We can Relate
We are the largest provider of relationship support in the country and we have been providing help to couples for over 80 years. More recently we have added specialist counselling services for individuals families and young people. We also have a specialist sex therapy service and a family mediation service for couples who have decided to separate or divorce to help them agree practical matters about child contact, property and pensions, to take to court. We help many thousands of people every year to strengthen their relationships and improve their wellbeing.
Our Counsellors
Our counsellors all have been specially trained in their chosen field of expertise. They have a minimum Level 5 qualification and many have first degrees or Masters degrees or other post-graduate qualifications. They are all members of professional bodies such as BACP ( the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy ) or equivalent.
It takes 2 years to become a fully qualified Relate trained counsellor. All counsellors undertake annual mandatory training in safeguarding, and they have to complete a minimum of 30 hours of ongoing professional development to maintain their accreditation. Relate counsellors have mandatory individual monthly supervision of their practice as well as group supervision. They consult regularly with their supervisor or safeguarding leads where necessary.

Helen Dicketts
MA Oxon BA Oxon PGC Supervision MBACP
Helen qualified as an Integrative Counsellor with Relate in 2000 and as a Young People Counsellor in 2013. She qualified as a Clinical Supervisor in 2017.
Helen supervises Counsellors providing Adult Relationship Counselling and Young Person’s Counselling (10-18) for Relate West Surrey.
Helen has many years experience of working online and face to face with people experiencing all kinds of relationship and life issues.
Christina Powell
BA, PgDip, MA; Counsellor & Clinical Supervisor. MBACP
Christina graduated as an Integrative Relationship and Family Counsellor with Relate in 2012 and qualified as a Young People counsellor in 2013. She qualified as a Clinical Supervisor in 2019.
Christina supervises Counsellors working with Couples, Individual Adults, Young People (10 – 18) and Families.
Christina is also a Director of the Surrey Wellbeing Partnership representing Relate West Surrey.
